No. 14 – THE SPACE AGE PROPHET
The Man Who Dressed the Moon Landing

In 1964, André Courrèges looked at the Gemini rockets and saw the future of fashion. His "Space Age" collection—sterile white tunics, geometric helmets, go-go boots, and goggles— took women out of the boudoir and into the command module. Where others saw fabric, Courrèges saw architecture: triangular lapels, trapeze silhouettes, and hemlines cut with mathematical precision. His models walked like astronauts preparing for launch, and his palette of white, silver, and acid orange made Paris look like Mission Control. This Pop Art homage launches him into orbit: flat geometric color fields, atomic ring motifs, a model in a Courrèges tunic and helmet against a background of bold circles and space-race optimism. The year reads 1964—when fashion stopped looking backward and started looking at the stars.
