This is a printed handbag: the artwork is reproduced directly onto the PU leather – a print, never embroidery or applique. On the front panel, Paris, 1926: a deco staircase sweeps up behind a woman in the newly invented little black dress, pearls at her throat, a minimalist perfume bottle standing in for the whole modern age, with roses, rooftops and the Eiffel Tower keeping her company – the moment fashion decided to be modern, printed in cream, black and gold.
The bag wears its vintage gracefully: a classic dome silhouette carried by top handles, 36 x 22 x 17.5 cm (about 14.2 x 8.7 x 6.9 in) of everyday room, closed by a smooth gold-tone dual zipper gliding along the top. Inside, the black lining keeps everything in order – a slip pocket for the phone you pretend you do not check, and an inner zippered pocket for the things that matter more. Commuting, shopping, dates, short trips: the bag holds no opinions about any of them and looks splendid at all of them.
The twenties invented modern style. You just carry it. Beauty is everywhere; now it rides on your arm.
