One of Michelangelo’s ignudi, caught mid-thought upon a ground of olive and fresco rose.
Around the Sistine ceiling, between the prophets, Michelangelo seated the ignudi: youths of impossible composure who neither read nor prophesy but simply exist, beautifully, at the exact center of everything. The Sistine Youth keeps that appointment on this plate, dark curls against marble and fresco rose, green drapery slipping from one shoulder with the nonchalance of someone who has never hurried in his life.
Olive, terracotta, and marble white belongs to rooms that prefer their sculpture barefoot. Set this plate among the books, above the desk where the important sentences get written, or in that corner of the living room that wants a classical accent without going full museum. He has been patient for five hundred years; he can wait for your wall.
Generous 10-inch fine ceramic with a high-gloss glaze. For classicists, gym loyalists, and admirers of ceiling art at eye level.
Part of the The Masterpiece Collection of old master portrait plates.
Beauty is everywhere.
