Discover a deeply personal journey of identity, art, and history with this uniquely curated photo book. Inspired by a lifetime of finding truth in art, this volume weaves together powerful narratives of queer icons—from Anne Seymour Damer and Frida Kahlo to Keith Haring and David Wojnarowicz—with personal reflection. Whether you are preserving your own legacy or exploring a broader story of resilience, this premium photo book offers an elegant, durable format to hold your most important truths.

I grew up in a world that told me people like me did not exist – or if we did, we were not to be spoken of. I was born in Havana in 1961, emigrated to Chicago in 1966, and spent my childhood as an altar boy at Holy Family Church, one of the oldest in the city. The Latin Mass. The incense. The silence. The unspoken rules. I learned early that some truths were meant to be carried quietly.

But I also learned that art tells the truth when people cannot.

I did not know, as a young gay boy in Chicago, that Anne Seymour Damer was sculpting marble in 1777. I did not know that Simeon Solomon was painting angels in Pre-Raphaelite gold while hiding who he loved. I did not know that Frida Kahlo’s raw self-portraits were also love letters, that Keith Haring was drawing dancing figures on subway walls while the world looked away, that David Wojnarowicz was screaming into the void so the rest of us might be heard. I did not know that Bob Mackie was dressing legends in sequins and feathers, turning fantasy into armor.

They were erased – by law, by shame, by textbooks that left blank pages where their names should have been. But they were here. They built, painted, sculpted, photographed, wrote, designed, directed, and dreamed. They existed. They triumphed. And because they did, I am here.

This collection exists for every young person who has ever looked in the mirror and wondered if they were the first. You are not. You never were. Forty-two artists – painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, writers, and designers – from the 18th century to this morning, from every continent and every background, who lived fully, created fearlessly, and refused to disappear.

These are your ancestors. These are your elders. These are your proof.

Art is not decoration. It is survival. It is memory. It is resistance. And when we put it on our walls, wear it on our shirts, hang it in our showers, and hold it in our hands, we are saying: we were here, we are here, and we are not going anywhere.

This is Angelic Dreamz. This is what we believe.

Together, we rise.
