Biography: Gilbert & George have been partners in life and art for over fifty years. They met at Saint Martin’s School
of Art in 1967 and have lived and worked together ever since, creating photo-based works that transform themselves into living sculpture. Their art is inseparable from their identity as a gay couple, and they have been vocal advocates for LGBTQ+ visibility since before it was safe to be out.
