Biography: Indiana was Ellsworth Kelly’s partner in the 1950s and early 1960s, and their relationship was one of the
most significant in postwar American art. His stacked-letter sculptures became some of the most reproduced artworks in history, transforming four letters into a universal symbol of connection. His later work also explored darker themes – the American dream’s failures, the Vietnam War, and the AIDS crisis – proving that his graphic simplicity held infinite emotional depth.
