The Royal Cartouche – Baroque Sun King Plate
A crown, a fleur-de-lis, and two gilded putti, framed in laurel upon burgundy velvet dusk.
Every court needs its coat of arms, and every coat of arms needs a little help from its friends. The Royal Cartouche gathers them all: a crown above an oval of cream damask, the fleur-de-lis at its heart, a laurel wreath for the historians, and two golden putti holding up the lower register as though the whole enterprise depended on them, which in a way it did.
Burgundy and gold is the color of rooms where the drapes are heavy and the gossip is heavier. Set this plate above a console with candlesticks, or pair it with leather books and a decanter of something serious. It is heraldry for people whose family crest is simply excellent taste.
Generous 10-inch fine ceramic with a high-gloss glaze. For houses that take their heraldry, and their dessert forks, seriously.
Part of the The Sun King Collection of baroque decorative plates.
Beauty is everywhere.
