The Curtiss JN-4 Jenny was the most famous American airplane of World War I and the Roaring Twenties. Built as a trainer for the U.S. Army and Royal Flying Corps, it became the backbone of American barnstorming after the war. Ten thousand Jennies were built, and after the Armistice they were sold as surplus for as little as $50.
