Biography: Wojnarowicz was a street kid turned downtown artist whose raw work gave voice to a generation
devastated by AIDS. His multimedia practice – painting, photography, performance, and memoir – channeled rage,
grief, and desire into an unflinching portrait of queer life under siege. He died of AIDS-related complications in 1992,
leaving behind one of the most powerful artistic testimonies of the crisis.
