Biography: Waters is the ‘Pope of Trash,’ a filmmaker who transformed bad taste into high art and made Baltimore the
capital of cinematic transgression. His early films with Divine – Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble – shocked audiences with their celebration of outsider identity, queer desire, and bodily excess. Over six decades, he has evolved from underground provocateur to beloved American icon, proving that camp, trash, and radical authenticity can coexist. His visual art – photography and installations – extends his cinematic eye into the gallery.
