Biography: Thomas is a Black queer woman making portraits of Black women that reframe art history’s most iconic poses through a lens of empowerment. Her rhinestone-lined paintings and staged photographs challenge the male gaze and the white European canon, replacing exoticism with agency. She invites models to pose in her built sets filled with vintage fabrics, creating a world where Black feminine beauty is celebrated on its own terms.
