No. 16 – THE GEOMETRIC VISIONARY
The Man Who Orbited Fashion

While Courrèges dreamed of the moon, Pierre Cardin built the rocket. In 1968 he launched his "Cosmos" collection: dresses made of perfect circles, collars like satellite dishes, and silhouettes so radically abstract that women appeared to be wearing geometry textbooks. He eliminated the need for buttons, zippers, and sometimes even seams—creating clothes that were essentially wearable sculpture. His use of vinyl, metal, and PVC turned models into androids from a better future. By 1970, he had licensed his name to over eight hundred products, proving that a designer's vision could colonize the entire planet. This Pop Art homage captures his orbital energy: concentric circles, bold flat primaries, a model in a Cardin tunic with a perfect ring collar, surrounded by satellite motifs and atomic-age optimism rendered in screen-print texture. The year reads 1968—when the future arrived ahead of schedule.
