Three distinguished ladies, three very serious hats, zero serious opinions between them.
The society convenes daily at golden hour: the white pillbox hat, the magenta ruffle with its sunglasses of great mystery, the chef’s toque worn to supervise breakfast. Feathers are preened. Gossip is exchanged alphabetically. Minutes are kept by nobody, which suits everyone fine, and the meeting adjourns exactly when the snacks arrive.
A curtain of tremendous hats and higher standards. Every bath is a society function; the rubber duck is a member in good standing.
Beauty is everywhere. Even during the fashion show.
